I have been living in London for quite a long time now, but I have never been to a football match here! Well.. up until last week! My friends are huge Chelsea fans, and as they were getting tickets for the Chelsea – Dynamo Kiev game, I decided it will be fun to go with them!
The match was part of the Champions League and it was on Chelsea’s stadium (Stamford bridge). The stadium accommodates around 42,000 people, so for me it was quite interesting to see that many people at one place! As you may know I currently have 47,600 followers on Instagram, which is quite close to the number of people on that stadium (thank you so much to all my followers, you are really amazing)!
For those of you who are as ‘familiar’ with football as me, Champions League, is an annual continental club football competition organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and contested by top-division European clubs. It is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world and the most prestigious club competition in European football, played by the national league champion (and, for some nations, one or more runners-up) of each UEFA national association.
The atmosphere was quite intense, as Chelsea hasn’t performed that well in the previous games this season. The fans, though, have rarely wavered in their support of the Portuguese and he was consistently cheered by the home supporters throughout the match.
The culmination of the night was William’s goal! He scored a brilliant late free-kick to give Chelsea a much-needed 2-1 victory over Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League, and earn under-fire Jose Mourinho some breathing space!
