Last week during my visit to Ibiza, I went on a day trip to Formentera. The smallest Balearic island in the Mediterranean Sea and is only 30 min by ferry from its more crowded, better known island neighbour, Ibiza.
Formentera is a very popular day-trip destination in the summertime, mainly because of the clear waters and long stretches of beach, framed by sand dunes and pine trees. Indeed, the beaches on the island are absolutely fantastic and look a lot like those you would find in the Caribbean – miles of white sand and crystal clear water shining in all nuances of blue and turquoise. Known as one of the last unspoiled outposts of modern tourism, it attracts people who want to hark back to simpler times.
The best way to get to the different parts of the island is by hiring a motorbike. This however limits the luggage you can carry with you. But, if you shop wisely you really don’t need much more than your beach towel and a pair of bikini.
My absolute favourite towel this season is from Luks Linen and there is more than just one reason why.
Their towels are a type of peshtemals (a traditional Turkish towel, often used in Hamam) hand loomed by family ateliers and master weavers. These towels are extremely popular due to their lightweight weave and versatility, which makes them super easy to carry in your beach bag or on the back of your motorbike.
And, they are so much more than just towels! Lüks peshtemals can also be used as scarves, throws, wraps, knotted bag and sarongs to take you effortlessly from beach to bar. It is truly a multi-purpose ethical product with a rich lineage deeply rooted in the Turkish way of life.
They are the perfect travel accessory – lightweight and compact they dry really quick and don’t stick to the sand! Why pack a traditionally thick and heavy towel when you can take a peshtemal and use it both outdoors and indoors?
Lüks carry a wide variety of colors and designs. To test them I chose two different models. I went for super lightweight Selen Peshtemal and the slightly thicker woven Damla Peshtemal (Tangerine). I used the Damla design as a throw and the Selen as a scarf and sarong (as wel as using them as towels)!
Also, being hand woven, makes them even more unique and, if you look after them they will last for years!
And there you have it! All this explains why the Lüks Linen towel is my new essential accessory for the summer. You can find all the variety of products they offer on here and there is a 10% discount on your first order too – what’s not to love?
I wore:
Towel – Lüks Linen | Bikini – Doll Swimwear
